Debbie’s career has spanned the widest range of show business genres, incorporating Classical ballet, Modern Dance, Cabaret, Theatre, Television and Films.

 

After finishing her training at the Royal Ballet School Debbie joined the Iranian National Ballet until political reasons forced her to return to the UK. There she went into the more commercial side of dance and performed with The Second Generation appearing with many known artists including Abba and Chris de Burgh.

 

Passing one audition changed her life. The Delfont Organisation placed her as a dancer in the Paul Daniels Summer Show in Great Yarmouth and the rest, as they say, is history.

 

Until his sad death in 2016 together they appeared in countless television shows, many theatre tours and a special fourteen month run at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London’s West End. They returned to The Prince of Wales Theatre two more times and had a successful Christmas season at the famous Savoy Theatre on The Strand

 

In after dinner cabarets they performed for most of the major companies around the world. 

 

Debbie presented her own radio programme for 12 years on BBC Radio Berkshire.

 

Following Paul’s sad death in 2016 Debbie has continued with a solo career.

 

In 2017 Debbie had enormous success in the very popular BBC1 TV show “Strictly Come Dancing” hitting headlines every week with her performances. Achieving the earliest in the shows history of a top score of 40 for her Tango and being the oldest celebrity contestant to get through to the final.

She followed this by performing on the Strictly Arena tour. The same year Debbie and her Strictly Partner Giovanni Pernice won “Best Performance” in The National Reality TV Awards for best performance.

Following her Strictly success Debbie has performed in Pantomime each Christmas including 2020 when she stepped in last minute at the Theatre Royal Windsor.  This being one of the only pantomimes in the country ,to actually perform 30 performances before being closed due to covid restrictions being increased. Life did not stand still after that as she then flew to Dallas USA to film for ITV

Two TV specials that Debbie has been involved in was “Carry On Barging” a very popular 4 part series where the actor Nigel Havers and Debbie took a canal boat in convoy with Simon Callow and Lorraine Chase along two famous canals.

The other being “The Pilgrimage”  for BBC2. Where seven celebrities walked the famous Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage across the Pyrenees and Northern Spain.

Throughout this, Debbie has been kept busy with many after dinner speeches, personal  and Television appearances including: Various appearances on Loose Women ITV, Good Morning Britain ITV, The One Show BBC, Celebrity Pointless, Celebrity The Chase, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, Impossible Celebrities, Strictly Best – A look back over the fifteen years of Strictly Come Dancing, Would I Lie To You with Rob Brydon

 

TV Credits Include: Crystal Maze, GMB, Gogglebox, Hypothetical, Inside Out, Kirstie’s All Star Stitch Up, Bargain Hunt, Strictly The Professionals, Xmas Tenable, Xmas Pointless, Celebrity Tipping Point, Celebrity Mastermind.

 

Along with some of the above during lockdown Debbie started a Podcast called “Spill the Tea with Debbie McGee” with rocketed up the iTunes Podacast charts.
